Why There is No Lock down in the Philippines.

Preface While majority of countries around the world impose lock downs during this pandemic period, some prefer to keep their economies open. Philippines on the other hand have not used the word "lock down." A  Little History The Filipinos have experienced an 8 years and 4 months (September 1972 to January 1981) martial law with in the 20 years  rule of Ferdinand Marcos from 1965 until the 1986 revolution, and succeeding temporary martial law by Gloria Arroyo and current President Rodrigo Duterte to some areas in the Southern Philippines due to insurgencies.  Handling the Covid-19 Pandemic Having the historical fear of  losing some perks of democracy, the president used the terms Community Quarantine categorized into GCQ, MCQ and ECQ which stands for  General, Modified and Enhanced Community Quarantine , respectively.  The psychological impact of the phrase "lock down with military control" was diverted into something more understandable for the citizens t...
